The N.E.W. League, established in the 1980’s, consists of competing teams in Columbus, Dublin, Marysville, Plain City, and Powell. The purpose of the North-East-West Swim League is to provide a complete swimming program for age group swimmers by conducting an annual competition through a series of dual meets to determine individual and team league champions. The NEW Swim League is a summer recreational league.

Meets Event Limits:

14 & under: up to 2 individual events + 2 relays per meet (4 events max)
15-18: up to 3 individual events + 2 relays per meet (5 events max)

Practices: Held at Jerome Village Community Center Pool from 8-11 AM (times vary based on team size). The coaching staff will set practice times and announce them at the parent meeting before the season. Swimmers must attend at least three practices before each meet to compete.

Practices and meets are organized by age groups:

• Girls and Boys 6 and Under | Girls and Boys 7-8 | Girls and Boys 9-10 | Girls and Boys 11-12 | Girls and Boys 13-14 | Girls and Boys 15-18
• Smaller age groups may practice together with separate plans as needed.

Swim Team Registration is now closed for the 2026 season due to reaching full capacity.

The Jerome Village Swim Team will hold New Swimmer Evaluations prior to the season. All new swimmers will need to complete the evaluation before officially joining the team. Registration is required prior to signing up for evaluations.

Evaluations will be held at the Jerome Village Community Center Pool on the following dates and times. All new swimmers must register for a timeslot in the My JVCC app prior to their evaluation. MUST register for a new swimmer evaluation by May 22.

• May 26, 27, 28, & 29 | 5-8 PM
• May 29 | 12 – 2 PM

Ability Requirements: The Jerome Village Swim Team is not a replacement for swim lessons and all new swimmers must pass an evaluation.
• Swimmers 9 and older must be able to swim 50 meters (2 lengths of the lap pool) freestyle and 25-meter backstroke without stopping and with controlled breathing.
• Swimmers 8 and younger must be able to float comfortably on both front and back, and swim 25-meters freestyle and backstroke.

Swimmers who are unable to complete the evaluation requirements will receive a refund for the registration fee and are welcome to register for swimming lessons which will be announced at a later date to better qualify for future participation.

Welcome new and returning swimmers! My name is Coach Austin, and I am excited to begin another great season with the team. This will be my third year coaching with the program, and I am honored to serve as the Head Coach for the 2026 summer season. I look forward to working with all of our swimmers and helping each athlete improve their technique, build endurance and confidence in the water, and work toward their personal and team goals throughout the season.

I am a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in History and Education and will continue my career in the field of education. Through my academic and professional experiences, I have developed a strong passion for teaching, mentoring, and supporting student growth both in and out of the classroom.

I have been coaching swimming for over ten years and have experience teaching both private and group lessons for swimmers of all skill levels. I have worked with swimmers ranging from ages 2 to 86, helping beginners build confidence in the water while also assisting experienced swimmers in refining their technique and performance.

My goal as a coach is to help every swimmer develop their skills, build confidence, and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment. I look forward to another great season ahead!

Why are parent volunteers essential? Parent volunteers are the backbone of the swim season and help to ensure meets and events run smoothly and efficiently.

How many times per season are volunteers needed? Volunteer requirements depend on the number of swimmers who join the JV Jaws. Last season, parents were required to volunteer 2.5 times per registered swimmer. This could increase in 2026 depending on team size due to the fact that last season we only hosted 2 meets – this year we will be hosting 3.

Is training provided? Yes, pre-season training is provided by the N.E.W. League in May. There will be a computer training class and an officials training class held at the Dublin Rec Center. Dates and times will be announced at a later date.  There will also be training opportunities available at the Pre-Season Practice Meet. Please note that Computer and Official volunteer roles carry higher value, allowing you to fulfill your volunteer requirements more quickly

Are there other volunteer opportunities? Yes! In addition to meet volunteering, parents can contribute to Fun-Fridays or help at CHAMPS.

Is there a consequence for not meeting volunteer requirements? To ensure necessary support is met, there is a fee of $250 per swimmer if parent volunteer requirements are not met. This helps cover the costs of hiring additional swim staff.

Home Meets

Hosting a meet requires extra hands. Positions include:
• Set Up: 1 point | Assist with meet setup prior to the start of the meet.
• Parking Attendants: 1 point | Direct parking at the start of the event.
• Bull Pen Organizers: 1 point | Ensure swimmers are lined up for their races.
• Starter: 2 points | Start races by using our timing system speaker and buzzer (Starter should be familiar with Colorado Timing Systems).
• Scorekeepers: 2 points | Record & verify results (computer training required).
• Announcer Assistant:  2 points | Assist DJ with announcements during meet.
• Ribbon Organizer: 1 point | Label & distribute ribbon awards for swimmers.
• Officials (Turn & Stroke Judges) – 2 points | Assist in officiating races (training required).
• Timers: 0.5 points per ½ session | Record race times on stopwatch (sign up for two spots to cover the full meet to get 1 point).
• Tear Down: 1 point | Assist with teardown after the meet.

Away Meets

Though the host team manages logistics, we need volunteers for:
• Timers: 0.5 points per ½ session | Each team must provide timers (signing up for two spots covers the entire meet).
• Bull Pen Organizers: 1 point | Ensure swimmers are lined up for their races.
• Ribbon Volunteers: 1 point | Distribute and label ribbon awards for swimmers.
• Officials (Stroke & Turn Judges & Referees): 2 points | Assist in officiating races (training required).
• Volunteer Organizer: 2 points | Ensure all volunteer positions are covered and assist with timer swaps.

CHAMPS Meet – Monday (All Day Event)

All teams are required to provide specific volunteers at specific times.
• Timers: 2 points per session
• Bull Pen Representative: 2 points | Ensure swimmers are lined up for their races.
• Ribbon Volunteers: 2 points | Distribute and label ribbon awards for swimmers.
• Hospitality Room Setup: 2 points
• Hospitality Room Stocker: 2 points
• Hospitality Room Cleanup: 2 points
• Volunteer Organizer: 4 points | Ensure all volunteer positions are covered and assist with timer swaps.

For those looking to contribute beyond meets:
• Team T-Shirt Support: 1 point | Organize and distribute swimmer shirts.
• Picture Day Coordinators: 2 points | Find photographer, coordinate picture day details, and assist photographer day of
• Fun Friday & Away Meet Snacks: 1 point per event | Organize activities or provide food for the team.
• Slices for Home Meets Sponsor: 2 points per event | Pay for pizza for all JV Jaws swimmers at home meets.($2/ slice for 75 swimmers)
• Banquet Flag Creator – 1 point | Create banquet flags for swimmers (supplies provided)
• Banquet Dessert Provider & Slideshow Creator: 2 point each | Provide refreshments and compile photos for the season recap.
