Eversole Run Middle School Weekly Newsletter

Dear Eversole Run Families,

I hope everyone is having a great start to 2023! The winter break was relaxing and restful, however, it’s very nice to be back in a routine and seeing all of our students back in the building.

On Wednesday, January 11 our students will be taking the ELA MAP assessment. I encourage all of our students to get a good night’s sleep the night before, and a healthy breakfast on the morning of the assessment. We are offering incentives for each grade level as a way to motivate our students to take the assessment seriously.

The Community Champion Awards honors DCS students and staff members who exemplify the best of volunteerism, character, leadership, and a sense of caring and responsibility for others. Nominations for the Community Champion Awards are now open. Below is the link if you would like to nominate a student and/or staff member:

I hope you have a great weekend, and we look forward to seeing your child on Monday.

Go Eagles!!

Kyle Gibson, Ed.D

Eversole Run Continues to Give Back to the Community
One Dublin would like to thank the Eversole Run Middle School Student Council and SOAR Homebase Planning Committee for collecting winter gear to donate to our neighbors in need this winter season. With the help of the community and programs like this, we can ensure basic needs are met with compassion and dignity. Thank you, Eversole Run, and thank you to all of the families who supported this program!

The Wizard of Oz
Please join the Eversole Run Drama Club as they head over the rainbow in February! The Wizard of Oz will be performed at the Jerome High School Center for Performing Arts on February 2nd (7pm), 3rd (7pm), and 4th (3pm). Mark your calendars as official advertisements and ticket sales will be available soon!

6th Grade Dance Club
Calling ALL 6th graders! We want you to join 6th graders across our five Dublin middle schools for 6th Grade Dance Club!

MORE THAN DANCING, this long-standing program will teach proper social etiquette and respect for others alongside the latest line, popular, and classic dances. Our professional dance instructor, Ron Clark, has guided well over 80,000 students in central Ohio on dance moves and social graces.

WHY JOIN 6th GRADE DANCE CLUB?

In this screen-heavy time, Ron believes it’s more important than ever to teach kids social skills such as… how to shake hands, how to treat one another gently and with respect, how to make small talk, and how to make eye contact with others. He does this in a FUN, casual setting with their friends, through dancing.

All 6th graders who join Dance Club will have the opportunity to attend four lessons throughout the month of April plus a Final Dance Party on April 30th. All lessons will be held during the week, in the evening, in the gymnasiums of one of our Dublin middle schools.

This PTO sponsored club will begin taking registrations on FEBRUARY 1st. COST will be $40/student…scholarships are available!

Stay tuned for more details and the registration link in our Friday newsletter.

PSAT 8/9
On October 12 Eversole’s eighth-grade students participated in the PSAT 8/9 assessment. These results are now posted in the student’s CollegeBoard portal. Your child will need to follow the steps linked here to create their account. Please use your child’s district email when creating this account. If your child is unable to log in to their account, you must contact CollegeBoard directly at 877-348-5728. Additional information about how to interpret these results can be found here.
The Ohio Department of Education’s Gifted Operating Standards has approved the PSAT 8/9 as an assessment for gifted identification. Students scoring at or above the 95th percentile in Mathematics or English Based Reading Writing (EBRW) have met the criteria for gifted identification in that applicable academic area. Students with a gifted identification in either of these areas will be supported within their regular classroom through high-quality, differentiated instruction.
On February 7, a PSAT 8/9 Parent Informational Night will be held virtually from 6:00-7:00 pm. Additional information, including the zoom link, will be shared closer to the presentation.

Parent Mixer at Pins Mechanical
We are so excited to be hosting our 1st Eagle Wars-Parent Edition sponsored by Premiere Allergy & Asthma on Wednesday, January 25th!

Join us for a parents night out with a little competition! Sign up for a tournament with friends or just come and watch and play some games on your own. We will have a silent auction, a reverse raffle, and much more.
